About District
Basti district is a part of Basti Division. In 1801, Basti became Tehsil headquarter and in 1865, it was chosen as the headquarters of the newly established district. Ghaghara river separates it from district Ayodhya and Ambedkar Nagar while on the north, the boundary marches with district Sidharth Nagar. It’s area is 2,688.00 Sq.km.
